Cars & Coffee of Siouxland – April 2014

Fun Fact: If your car is 25 years or older and you can find a South Dakota license plate of the same year, you only need to register your car one time!

Annoyingly chilly weather kicked off the first Cars & Coffee of Siouxland this year but it didn’t stop the true enthusiasts from showing up. For those of you who are thinking, “Cars and coffee? Those are my two favorite things! Where do I sign up?” I’ve got good news for you. C&C requires no sign up, you just show up, park your car, and chat/have breakfast with other enthusiasts alike. This is a great opportunity to have a smaller meetup where you can chat with other aficionados and learn about why their cars are more than just cars.

I learned a lot talking to the owners of some of these vehicles that I would have never known by just seeing them drive by. The gorgeous blue Jaguar E-Type was actually white, had no engine, and was sitting in a field. The owner realized the opportunity and did a full restore and added a Ford V8 engine under the hood. The Porsche 912 has been exceptionally maintained and it not only has its original color, but original owner. The VW Beetle, one of my favorites, has had the engine rebuilt, the wheels and brakes replaced, the interior reupholstered, and lots more to make this German classic fun to drive in modern times.

Chatting with these guys was a great way to get car talk out of my system so I stop annoying all of my friends. If you missed this one don’t worry, Cars & Coffee of Siouxland meets at the Recovery Room on 18th and Grange (Sioux Falls, SD) every 4th Saturday through October. Here are the list of the dates: April 26, May 24, June 28, July 26, August 23, September 27, and October 25.
