Our Story
In 2012 a little car review website called Sioux Falls Auto Reviews emerged onto the web.
It sucked.
The content consisted of nabbed pictures from other car review sites and no particular vision to follow. Then came the first car review, a 2012 Fiat 500 Pop, which was shot with a cell phone and written with shaky hands.
Flash forward to 2020 and SFAR slowly adopted the art of web design, photography with a real DSLR camera, a writing prowess, and multiple gut-feeling re-brandings. What came out the other end is what you see today: Short Shift. An all original, premium, car-loving content machine based in the upper Midwest.

See that nerd on the right? That's me midway through my Automotive Journalist journey. At one point I never thought I'd even see a Ford GT in real life. I had my picture taken by this very one in 2012 just to prove it to my friends. Something about it must have inspired me because when I went home, I put my nose to the grindstone and kept plugging away until, a few years later, I could sit behind the wheel of that 2006 Ford GT. My dream to drive every car ever pushes me to work hard and develop the best stories about cars that I possibly can.

I'm a mechanical engineer with an affinity for technology. I started with Short Shift by sending Chris pictures from our annual trip to Detroit for the Woodward Dream Cruise. After that, I started writing articles on cars and events around the Minneapolis/St Paul area. I graduated and moved to Detroit to work in the automotive industry, but left shortly after to return to my home in the Twin Cities. I love photography, writing and sharing my passion for original content with all of you. I have experienced a lot of cars and have a great appreciation for all things automotive. Thanks for reading!
