Petition.whitehouse.gov is a good way to get something a lot of people agree on noticed by congress. It’s a harmless, non-time consuming effort for citizens to utilize. Also, this is an automotive-themed website so this topic is held close to our heart: Change the import law from 25 years to 10 years.
Currently, there are a ton of Acts and restrictions put into place on importing things from other countries. Most of them refer to safety and emissions, which makes sense, but a plethora of new cars have been released every year for the last 100 years. Not many U.S. citizens are going to import a 25-year-old Nissan Skyline to go get groceries; no, they import them for collections and recreation. So what’s 10 years vs 25?
If you agree, the petition is at 621 signatures (including mine) as of December 13, 2016. We need 100,000 total by December 27th. Although it’s a steep climb, if you sign and then share with your car enthusiast friends, we’re one step closer. It takes less than a minute!

The reasoning behind this petition is so that Americans are able to import cars that are 10 year old and older instead of waiting for 25 years to import your favorite. No matter if it’s now or later if a car guy wants a car they will wait the 25 years so why not be a little closer to buy the car now. Instead of buying a new car which is a waste of materials we can use older cars and have fun driving which is a form of recycling that is fun. So if you believe that the import laws should be changed to import your favorite car please help by signing up for this petition and soon you and me can get our import dream cars.
