When word gets out that there’s a brand new 2018 Mercedes AMG GT C Roadster in town, you can’t not go take a look. And right now this perfectly spec’d example is sitting front and center of the Luxury Auto Mall show room.
Beginning its racing pedigree in 1952 as the 300 SL, then returning in 2010 as the modernized SLS AMG, the AMG GT is the current iteration of Mercedes’ supercar. Although the current generation has ditched the signature gullwing doors, it still retains a long nose, short trunk, and the coveted Panamericana grille. And, in true Mercedes fashion, it’s fast.
The 2018 Mercedes AMG GT C is the third highest up out of four trim packages and the top dog of the Roadster lineup. It has a 4.0 Liter V8 Biturbo engine pushing out 550 horsepower and 502 torques; nearly 100 more than the base GT Roadster and good for 0-60 in 3.6 seconds. On top of that it has all the expected AMG goodies such as active aero, huge brakes, tuned suspension, and five customizable drive modes.
As for aesthetics, this car couldn’t get any cooler. It’s painted in Mercedes’ new designo color dubbed “Selenite Grey Magno” and is paired perfectly with the amber calipers that only come with AMG’s High-Performance Ceramic Composite Braking System. On the inside is loads of leather, buttons, screens, and expertly crafted carbon fiber (check the closeup photos below).
Unfortunately, I did not get to drive this AMG GT. But that’s okay since no one can. I asked a member of the staff if anyone got to and they said other than the owner, only one person will get to drive it to the nearest gas station to fill it up. Oh well.
If you’re in Sioux Falls, I highly suggest you stop down to Luxury Auto Mall and walk a lap around this car. They might even let you sit in it and push a button! And, if you want to buy it, just chat with Jake Fredrickson and he’ll get you squared away!
