Both of these performance versions of Subaru’s two performance models are no secret, but it was still fun to see them up close at the 2018 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). The 2018 WRX STI Type RA and the 2018 BRZ tS are the crown jewels of Subaru’s modern stable. Both are faster, lighter, and better handling than their base model counterparts, and both have a cool red stripe to help you tell the difference. Here are some fast facts!
2018 Subaru WRX STI Type RA
- Additional tuning by Subaru Tecnica International (STI)
- WR Blue Paint, signature 19″ gold BBS wheels, red grille & rear splitter stripe
- Carbon fiber spoiler and roof
- New cold-air intake, performance exhaust, and ECU re-tune now make 310 horsepower
- Revised Bilstein suspension

- Only 500 individually numbered units will be made

- tS stand for “Tuned by STI”
- Stiffer springs and Sachs performance dampers
- 18″ STI wheels finished in black
- Chassis reinforcement for better resonse
- Manually adjustable STI carbon fiber rear wing
- Unique tS seats and the rest of the interior gets the “STI treatment”
