Before the RS Motors Evo IX shoot, I offered a session to some of my close friends to make sure my spots were primed with color. Plus, I wasn’t going into such an important shoot cold. Two friends took me up on the offer; both with BMW ///M cars.
The first one was Chris’s E46 BMW M3 that we’ve seen on this site before for #GRIDLIFE South in Road Atlanta. This BMW M3 is relatively stock, with some changes coming up over the winter. Chris took 5th overall in Street RWD at his very first time competing on the #GRIDLIFE circuit. The M3 does not have any power adders, solely suspension modifications, which makes that 5th place finish quite impressive. Chris notes that he loves the car to death. Of the last 5 track cars he’s owned, this one is by far the most balanced and best handling. Over the winter, the car will see a permanent half roll cage, harnesses, and a full header back exhaust system. These modifications should make the car more competitive next season!
The second ///M car to join us was Logan’s E39 M5. This subtle looking sedan is anything but. The E39 M5 came equipped with quite the party piece: a 4.9 liter V8 engine cranking out almost 400 hp that pushes this luxury yacht to 186 mph. Logan wrapped this one in his garage with Audi’s Nardo Grey; a pastel, battleship grey that separates this from the other businessman sedans on the road. Logan has thoroughly used this stately looking car, as well. It has persevered through blizzards, camping at Brainard International Raceway, and several road trips. Not once has it never stranded him. In typical German fashion, there’s always something wrong with it, but it’s never left him on the side of the road. This car is really the perfect all-rounder.
