When I heard that Minneapolis was getting an Aston Martin dealership, I had to get in on the action. I reached out to Joe Seppa, general manager at Morrie’s Luxury Auto, and set up an interview with him. We chatted about supercars, events, and, of course, James Bond. SS: What makes Minneapolis a great place for Aston Martin?
JS: I think Minneapolis is up and coming. We did an interview with Karl Schmidt, the CEO, and really touched on how Minneapolis is one of those communities that is growing with its food and its atmosphere and it has been more of a destination than it ever has been. We really feel that Minneapolis is ready to step it up in the Luxury world and Aston Martin is a nice addition to Bentley and Maserati.
SS: Where is the next closest Aston Martin dealership?
JS: Chicago and St. Louis are going to be the next closest.
SS: Do you provide full service on all Aston Martin vehicles?
JS: We do full service on Aston Martin, Bentley, Maserati, Ferrari, Lamborghini or anything. We are a full service destination for any premium and exotic vehicles and we don’t discriminate if you haven’t purchased it at Morrie’s.
SS: What are the requirements for obtaining an Aston Martin Dealership?
JS: There are a number of different things, the same with any franchise. They (Aston Martin) look at your clients, your CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index), location, and how happy are people with your group. Facility is also a large part. You have to have a top-of-the-line facility to be able to sell these cars and we’re building a brand new Luxury Auto location as we speak. But at the end of the day, it’s got to make sense for both parties.
SS: Are there limitations to the models of Aston Martin you can get at this location?
JS: You can order any of the models. Of course there are certain models that are produced for certain markets that just don’t make sense for our area, but if someone wants to order an Aston Martin the way they like it, same with Bentley and Maserati, we can order it.
SS: What makes Aston Martin different than any other (GT) grand touring car?
JS: Each brand has their own personality. For me, what makes an Aston different than a Bentley or Maserati is they are very proud of their British relationship. James Bond drives an Aston and the car that Prince William and Kate drove in their wedding was an Aston. It’s prestigious and it’s different.
Another thing about Aston Martin is that they are strictly a powerful race car. That’s their personality, that’s what they stick with. Other brands try other things, like Maserati with the Ghibli, but Aston stays true to their heritage. Also, who doesn’t like James Bond?
SS: Will we get to see more Aston Martins at local events? And how do you plan to grow the car community in Minneapolis?
JS: My biggest focus is that we get these cars out so they can breathe. We plan on exposing all of our brands more than we ever have before. We’ll be at Minnesota Cars & Coffee, we’re hosting a number of different events, we’re looking forward to the new building so we can fit more people, and our doors are wide open. We want people to come in and check the cars out, sit in them, and take photos. Even if it’s a dream, sometimes a dream becomes a reality!
