Lexus’s lineup for the 2018 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) was much the same as every other auto show because they haven’t really done anything new since the release of the LC500. Their public display continued to consist of the entire unchanged Lexus range.
But then Lexus press conference debuted the LF-1 Limitless concept. This concept is a look into what Lexus wants to accomplish in the future. The LF-1 Limitless concept is promised to be fully autonomous vehicle with an adaptive navigation system that learns the driver’s style and habits. It can predict your next fuel stop, recommend gas stations, and, on extra long road trips, it might just be able to suggest when and where you’ll need to stop for the bathroom!
The Lexus LF-1 Limitless concept is inspired from the Japanese Katana sword; sharp and efficient. It looks the part, too, and it holds big promise for Lexus’s future. The LF-1 is also all about autonomy. Instead of mirrors, it uses small cameras that give the driver a 360 degree view of the vehicle’s surroundings. The door handles aren’t just door handles either. They are accessible only when the owner walks near the car, creating an incredibly sleek door panel and attractive exterior.
The interior of the Lexus LF-1 Limitless concept is all about swaddling its occupants. It is equipped with multiple screens, luxurious materials, and touch pads for passenger controls. Fiber optic cables run through the interior giving the effect of a starry night, similar to the ceiling of a Rolls Royce. You can be sure that the LF-1 will be fully loaded with all modern audio and visual features as well.
Do you think the Lexus LF-1 Limitless will ever see the streets? Or is it just another concept to be shelved?
